Personal health and educating others on their health and wellness have been passions of mine for many years. I have had issues with my health for my entire life culminating in cancer and Hashimoto’s in my 30’s. Beyond my own health, I have also struggled while watching various loved ones suffer from health-related issues, including my husband Marc who lost his battle to cancer in his mid-40’s. Despite my many challenges with health, I am so grateful for the lessons that I have learned from them because they have given me the fuel to pass on my knowledge to other people in need.

Here’s some tough love from a nutritionist with over a decade of experience helping clients feel the best in their bodies... 

1. You can’t out-train a bad diet... You can work out daily, but if your meals are full of sugar, dairy, and processed foods, your body will stay inflamed and stuck. 

2. Those “little” snacks might be emotional eating in disguise. It’s not always hunger... it could be stress, boredom, or habit. 

3. There’s no magic pill. At least not one that will lead to sustainable, lasting change... Real change comes from consistent choices, not quick fixes.

4. Sleep is everything. If you’re not getting 7–8 hours, your cravings, metabolism, and mood WILL be off.

You already know the basics: eat clean, watch the dairy, gluten, and sugar. But let’s go deeper... these are the less-talked-about strategies that actually move the needle:

1. Regulate your nervous system before, during, and after meals. If you’re eating in a stressed-out state, your digestion shuts down. Bloating isn’t always about what you eat—it’s about how you eat. Slow down, and chew your food!

2. Skip the water with meals... Hydration is essential, but not while eating. Drinking too much water during meals dilutes stomach acid and enzymes, which you need to properly break down food. Don’t drink water 30 mins before, during, or 30 mins after a meal. 

3. Take a high-quality digestive enzyme like DigestGold from @enzymedica . Our bodies don’t always produce enough enzymes to break down food efficiently.

These are the five foods I don’t eat anymore to feel my best in my 60s...

1. Seed oils – They’re inflammatory, oxidize easily, and do more harm than good when it comes to hormones and aging.

2. Highly processed snacks – Even the “healthy” ones often spike blood sugar and leave you feeling drained and unsatisfied.

3. Artificial sweeteners – They disrupt the gut, confuse your taste buds, and made me crave more sweetness, not less.
